Welcome to “Demons and Angels”. More than 500 children have contributed to this journey. It began with young people at Kids Company feeling that the vulnerable were presented as demonic and civil society as angelic. They wanted to show you that the so called “angels” behave sometimes like demons. It’s their disregard, their trampling thoughtlessly over those who need more help.

But in this narrative there are many angels: the children who survive their childhood and all the kind adults who have helped them through the hard times. This exhibition is also a celebration of the compassion shown by all those who have helped make Kids Company a special place for some special children.

The artists who have worked with the children on this journey have been chosen for their exceptional personal qualities. At all times they have attempted to be sensitive and mindful of the child’s perception, teasing out, nurturing, and supporting the visual image to the point where it was ready for sharing. They are a team highly committed to their own artwork. But in putting the children first they have silenced their own need and served the child’s.
